HOW TO INCORPORATE REFILLING SOAP INTO YOUR LIFESTYLE

Incorporating refillable soap into your lifestyle is a great way to reduce waste and promote sustainability. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Choose Refillable Soap: Look for brands that offer refillable soap options. These may include liquid hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, body wash, or shampoo. Many Eco-friendly and sustainable brands now offer refillable packaging as part of their product lines.
  2. Find a favourite refill :  Zero waste stores like The Soap Exchange offer refill options where you can bring your empty containers and fill them up with your preferred soap. These stores often dispense various types of soap products.
  3. Invest in Reusable Containers: Purchase or reuse a set of durable, reusable containers specifically for refilling soap. Choose containers made from materials like glass or stainless steel that are easy to clean and won’t retain odours.
  4. Keep Containers Clean: Before refilling your soap containers, make sure they are clean and dry to prevent contamination. You can wash them with hot, soapy water and allow them to air dry thoroughly before refilling.
  5. Label Containers: Label your refillable soap containers to keep track of their contents and avoid confusion. You can use chalkboard labels, waterproof markers, or printable labels to clearly indicate the type of soap inside.
  6. Plan Ahead: Keep track of your soap usage and refill your containers before they run out. This may require planning regular trips to refill stations or purchasing larger quantities of soap to keep at home.
  7. Support Refill Programs: Encourage local businesses and retailers to offer refillable soap options by expressing your interest and willingness to support such initiatives. Your feedback and support can help drive demand for more sustainable packaging solutions.
  8. Spread the Word: Share your experience with using refillable soap with friends, family, and community members. By raising awareness about the benefits of refillable options, you can inspire others to make similar changes in their own lifestyles.

Incorporating refillable soap into your lifestyle may require some initial effort and adjustment, but it can ultimately lead to significant reductions in waste and environmental impact. By making this simple change, you can contribute to a more sustainable future while enjoying the benefits of clean, Eco-friendly products.

Great Article About Us on “A Novice Ecologist” Blog

Blogger Andrea LaPointe did a great little write-up on the Soap Exchange at her blog “A Novice Ecologist” Check out the story and more great articles at her website through the link below!

“Once inside a full-line Soap Exchange you will find an impressive array of cleaning products all of which are biodegradable, made in Canada, and not tested on animals.  As I have phased out my other cleaning products my collection has grown to include their laundry soap, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, and an all purpose cleaner.  For those that like to sample before committing to a larger purchase there are mini sizes of almost every product available for purchase.  There are many products I have yet to try including a product for washing your car that I noticed on their website when I was preparing this post – I guess that will be my next sample.”
